Reading Response Question for November 29-December 3
Very often, the words a character says in a story can give us clues about how a character feels. Find a place in a fictional book that you are reading in which the main character speaks and gives you a clue about how the character is feeling. Be sure to tell us what the character says and what you think the character is feeling.
In Officer Buckle and Gloria, the principal of Napville School asks if Officer Buckle is coming to give the safety speech. Officer Buckle says, “I’m not giving any more speeches! Nobody looks at me, anyway!” I think that shows that Officer Buckle is feeling humiliated because he thought he was the star of the show, but really it was Gloria.
ReplyDeleteIn Ramona the pest, Ramona's mother say's "Today my baby leaves me." I think this shows Mrs. Quimby is feeling sad because Ramona is leaving for her first day of school and she sees Ramona is growing up.
ReplyDeleteIn Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Ugly Truth the main character Greg Heffly said:" It's been almost two and a half weeks since me and my ex-best friend,Rowley Jefferson, had our big fight." I think he's feeling upset because Rowley was his only best friend.

Mr Foxx was giving a bunch of riddles to Mr Knox and Mr Knot said 500 thousand times to please stop giving riddles.Mr. Fox keeped on giving riddles.Mr. Knot was getting really angry. When they talked about tweetle beetles fighting in a bottle since Mr. Knot was real angry he put Mr. Fox in the bottle were the fight was going on. Alexus H.
ReplyDeleteIn Horrible Harry and The Drop of Doom by Suzy Kline Harry and his friends were going to ride the Drop of Doom. It is like the elevator drop ride at Disney's Hollywood Studios. Harry did not want to ride the ride. Harry grabbed Song Lee's hand on the ride and said "AAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUAAAAAUUUUUUGH!" He had his eyes closed. I think that Harry was scared to death on the ride. He was not cheering like the rest of his friends.
ReplyDeleteIn the story of Rainbow Fish and the Big Blue Whale. The whale told Rainbow Fish how hurt, and angry their hostile words had made him felt. Raibow Fish says, " I'm sorry, but when we saw you watching us all the time, we were afraid you might eat us. " I think that Rainbow Fish had made a big mistake, and felt sad about the situation.
ReplyDeleteIn The Spooky Old Tree,the third bear starts to shvier because of the alligator,the second bear starts to shiver because because the axe fell and broke the stick,the first bear starts to shiver because a great sleepy bear was sleeping in the passageway,and all the bears run home shivering.

In the book Space Explorers, they had just landed on the Moon. Carlos says We were having so much fun, I almost forgot the reason we had come here in the first place. I think he is feeling amazed and surpised to be almost weightless and walking on the Moon.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading a book called, Ramona Quimby Age 8 written by Beverly Cleary. Ramona and her classmates believe the only reason to bring hardboiled eggs to school is to crack them by smashing them on their head. Some kids try timid little whacks but Ramona likes one big whack. She saves her egg for last and waits for everyone to watch her. She whacks her egg on her forehead but feels cold, slimy stuff on her face along with pieces of shell. "Her eyes fill with tears of anger" and she is mean to her friends when they try to help. Besides being angry I think she was really embarassed.
ReplyDeleteIn Cranberry Thanksgiving, Everyone comments on how good the thanksgiving dinner was. Then, Mr. Whiskers says, " How about some more?". I think that shows that Mr. Whiskers is very greedy, and he thinks that grandmother's food is very good.

ReplyDeleteLinus wrote a letter to someone he called “The Great Pumpkin.“ It really annoyed Lucy, his sister, because she thought it made her look bad. Snoopy thought it was the funniest thing he had ever heard. The only person who thought Linus just might be right about the Great Pumpkins was Sally. And Charlie Brown thought it was “STUPID!” I thing that Linus shows that he's never gonna give up til he see's the Great Pumpkin.
I'm reading Danny & Daisy. In the book Danny said "I don't feel very cheerful." I know when he said that he was not very happy, he was bummed.
ReplyDeleteIn The Creature Vanishes, Luke is the boy who spotted Bigfoot. "I know what I saw!" cried Luke. Luke was feeling mad because Susan didn't think it was Bigfoot.

ReplyDeleteKids whose last names start with the first few letters of the alphabet get called on the most by the teacher, and that's why they end up beigh the smartest. I can only think of ONE kid who broke the last-name rule, and that's Peter Uteger. Peter was the smartest kid in the class all the way up until fifth grade. That's when a bunch of us started giving him a hard time about how his initials sounded when you said them out loud. These days, Peter doesn't raise his hand at ALL, and he's pretty much a C student. I guess I feel a little bad about the whole P.U. thing and what happened to Peter. But it's had not to take credit whenever it comes up.---I think that Greg felt only a little bit bad about making Peter from an A student to a C student. But he feels a little proud for starting the joke. By Vincent K.

In the book Warriors the charecter Tigerclaw asks Firepaw "is something wrong"? "Just a dream" Firepaw mumbled.That tells me that Firepaw was feeling like firepaw was trying to completely forget his dream. Because it was a terrible dream.
The book I am reading is Arthur's Reading Race. In the book, Arthur said " I can teach YOU to, too." I think that Arthur is excited. He is eager to teach his sister, D.W.
ReplyDeleteI read "The terrible thing that happened at our house." I thought the girl was upset and mad because things weren't the same at her house, when her mom went back to work. Her house became crazy!

I am reading a book called Spellbound,it is about a show called Wizards of Waverly Place.The main charecter is Alex she has two brothers named justin,and Max. Her best friend is Harper.In the book Alex is felling like she is responibl for every thing. Like i feel at my house.That is about a book called Spellbound.
