Reading Response for the Week of November 15-19
Very often, when we read, the characters in our books undergo changes. Sometimes the very thing they wanted in the beginning of the story becomes less important as the character learns a lesson and changes within the story.
What are you reading? How is the character in your book different by the ending of the book? What made your character change?
In the book, Two Bad Ants, the main characters are two ants who at first are very adventurous about being out on their own. They are excited about gorging themselves on the endless sugar in the human’s kitchen. However, they soon find out that the kitchen is a scary place, filled with unseen dangers at every turn. By the end of the story, they are relieved to at last be going home with their friends.
ReplyDeleteI read a book called Wanted:Best Friend by A.M.Monson. In the beginning Cat and Mouse are playing checkers but Mouse wants to play crazy eights. They have an argument and Cat tells Mouse to "Go Home."So Mouse goes home and Cat invites some new friends over. When Cat's other friends come over it turns out to be a disaster. So at the end Cat realizes that all he wants is to play with his true best friend Mouse.
ReplyDeleteIn the book Julius, the Baby of the World the main character Lilly does not like her baby brother Julius at all when he is born. When she is by him she is mean and wishes he would go away. When Cousin Garland says nasty things about Julius it's a different story. Lilly becomes protectiv of her baby brother makes Cousin Garland hold him and say beautiful stuff about him. After that Lilly begins to respect Julius and love him.

ReplyDeleteFrancine wanted a new bike that was super cool. Her dad gaves her a bike that was not so cool. It looked like a big mess and she was embarrassed. She took it to school and her friends joked her. She hid the bike behind the bushes near the trash cans. She told everyone it had been stolen. Later she found out the bike was her dad's old bike that was special to him. He used his bike in a race and won. That is why it was special. The trash truck had picked up the bike and Francine was upset it was gone. She and her dad found it at the dunp. She was no longer embarrassed because she realized how important the bike was to her dad and it became important to her too.
I was reading Clifford the small red puppy.The main characters are Emily and Clifford. Emily,s puppy Clifford came from next door. When Emily got Clifford the next morning Clifford got bigger and bigger but Clifford had to move. But Emily moved too. Emily was surprised because Clifford was hiding bhind the house. Emily said I love you Clifford!

I am reading a story that is in the Walt Disney's Classic Storybook title PINOCCHIO. In this story, Pinocchio is made out of wood by a gentleman named Geppetto. Pinocchio had to prove himself to be brave, truthful, and unselfish in order to become a real boy. Pinocchio did not follow the instruction as told by the Blue Fairy. He was up to no good by following the Fox and the cat called Gideon. Pinocchio finally listened to his keeper Jiminy Cricket to go home. By the time he got home, he found a note that his father had went to look for him. His father was trap inside a whale. Pinocchio risk his life to save his father. In the end, Pinocchio has proven himself to be brave, truthful, and unselfish. With this, Pinochhio became a real, live boy.

The Ugly truth.The charters are a mom,dad,2 brothers named Manny (younger brother) and Rodrick (older brother),and a friend named Rowly,and the main charter is Greg Heffly.I am doing the main charter because he changes a lot and I have good emotions for his charter.At the beginning of the book he was talking about his ex-friend in a bad way.Then in the middle he was a little nicer and stared to talk about whats happening now.Then at the end of the middle changing his place about to school and started to be a little unhappy about school.When he was talking about school he told me about a lock-in and on the cover it said:Get ready to have the time of your life.When he got there he was really mad because it wasn't fun at all.This is why I chose Greg Heffly since he has a lot of feelings.
ReplyDeleteIn a book I read this week, Mummies in the Morning by Mary Pope Osborne. The main characters are Annie and Jack. In the beginning of the book Jack is scared and Annie is loving the adventures they are going on. By the end of the book Annie is scared and Jack loves the adventures they are going on. That is how the characters change in this book I read.
ReplyDeleteIn the book, I'm a Big Sister, Ellie is excited because she's a big sister now. While everyone make a fus of the new baby, Ellie begins to wish she could be little again. But then she gets to help feed baby, change baby's diaper, push the stroller and have a surpise treat too, a yellow bunny. Being a big stster is more fun than Ellie thinks.
ReplyDeleteIn the book, The Cafeteria Lady from the Black Lagoon, the boy is very scared of the cafeteria lady. She was serving weird toxic foods and food from the garbage. At the end of the story the lady turned into a normal person. Then the boy was very happy to go into the cafeteria.

In the book the character Rusty turns from a kittypet to an apprentice then to a brave Warrior.Everyone in the Thunderclan thought that Rusty wouldnt survive since he was a kittypet.
In the book, Baby Mouse Queen of The World, Baby mouse likes Cat and wants to go to her slumber party. Baby Mouse realizes that she is a mean cat and that her friendship is not worth being treated badly and she was very bosy.

For the colar. when she ate to much she turned pink!The docter told her to eat green food and at the end of the story she was tired of being pink so she decidid to eat as much green food as she could to turn green again.
ReplyDeleteMy book is called Frog and Toad Are Friends. In the begainning Toad was being lazy because it was still winter and all he wanted to do was sleep. Frog wanted Toad to come play he missed him and it was spring. Toad said do not wake him till May. Frog tore the pages off the calendar to May. He woke Toad and told him it was May. Both of them ran outside to see how the world was looking in Spring.
ReplyDeleteMY BOOK IS CALLED SHADOW OVER LOCH NESS ITS ABOUT 2 BOYS NAMED CHRIS AND STEVE WHO GO ON AN ADVENTURE WITH THEIR DAD'S TRAVEL AGENCY TO SCOTTLAND WHERE THERE WAS A CASTLE WITH LEGENDS OF TREASURES AND OF A LOCH NESS MOSTER. CHRIS STARTS OUT TO BE WIMPY AND STEVE IS THE BRAVE ONE WHO LIKES TO INVESTIGATE. DURING THEIR ADVENTURE THEY RUN INTO LOTS OF DANGER AND SCARY MEAN PEOPLE. BY THE END OF THE TRIP CHIS ENDS UP THE BRAVE ONE STEVE ENDS UP BEING THE SCARED ONE. THE BOYS NEAVER DID FIND OUT IF THEIR REALLY WAS A LOCH NESS MONSTER
ReplyDeleteIn Pirate's Promise, the main character was Tom. He was sad, poor and homeless. In the middle of the book, Tom's stepdad traded him for some gold coins to a sailor. When Tom got on the ship he didn't know what they were going to do to him. Then the sailors threw him in the dungeon and Tom was frigthen. When they were out to sea, the ship got into a battle with another ship and Tom escaped to the other ship and met the Captain and saw he was nice. By the of the story, Tom became a pirate and he was no longer scare, alone or homeless.
ReplyDeleteHansel and Gretel by Rachel Isadora. The story is about a brother and sister named Hansel and Gretel who are not wanted by their Step Mother and the Father agreed. Their parent led them into the forest and leave them. They can't find their way back, then they find a house made out of cake and start to eat it. Then a witch comes out of house and tries to put them in the oven. That is the book of Hansel and Gretal.
ReplyDeleteDiary of a Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules by Jeff Kinney. This story is about a boy named greg. In the beggining, greg played a trick on a kid that came back from another school. In the middle, Greg didnt want to play a trick ever again because he got caught. In the end, Greg helped his brother Rodricks science project. That is the story of Diary of a Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules.

I am reading a book called Frindle by Andrew Clenets.In the book there is a kid named Nick and he just has a mind of his own.He mabe his class into a little island.Then he puts sand in the room and it spreds into the hallway and the janeter reports it to the principal.Then I had to go to sleep so I wonder whats going to happen next.What if he gets OSS or ISS.That would be really bad!Well that is the book that i am reading right now.
