Try Some Funny Reading- Comic Strips!

Reading Response for the Week of March 28-April 1 This week, we enjoyed going to Kellam High School to watch a musical entitled, “Annie” which was based on a comic strip written by Harold Gray. The comic strip was called “Little Orphan Annie” and it ran in newspapers for many years. It wasn’t until many years later that the musical, “Annie,” was written and performed. Comic strips are a fun way to enjoy reading. What are some of your favorites, and why do you like them?

    I like the Family Circus because the kids in the cartoon always ask funny questions about life. They usually mispronounce some word and that’s what makes me laugh!

    I like the peanuts comic strip. I especially like them when Snoopy or Lucy (Lucy with Charlie Brown is really fuuny) are in them. I like it when Snoopy is in them 'cause I like the he talks(mostly I like it when it's like this,"?!?".) I like it when Lucy is in it with Charlie Brown 'cause I like how when Charlie Brown makes Lucy mad, she shakes her fist at him. It makes me crack-up.

    I like Pinky and the Brain because Brain tries to take over the world but he fails every time he tries and that is why I like Pinky and the Brain.

    I like Jump Start because there is this kid and he will do anything to get out of school but his mom always catches him.

    I like the Peanuts comics, the splinter one. Because the boy Linus has a splinter on his finger and he says "AH AH"! His sister took it out Linus said "OW" That made me laugh!

    I like to read the comic strip in the book called Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Greg's funny, silly, crazy, and he makes me laugh.

    I like the Garfield comics becouse garfeild always kikcs ody around.When garfield bosses norman around it really makes me lagh.

    I like the Garfield comic strips because they always make me laugh and garfield always says lasagne almost in everyone (also sleeps).That's the comicstrip that makes me laugh.

    I like Non Sequitur because usually the main character has a problem to solve. When they try to solve the problem, they cause another problem. For example, this week a man was stuck on an island with a palm tree. There was another island close by with his boat on it. He couldn't swim there because there were sharks in the water. So he had an idea to cut down the tree and make a bridge. The only problem was, when he chopped the tree down it fell on his boat and smashed it to pieces! He stood there looking at the boat thinking, "Oh, come on!" I think he must be having a bad day!

    I like the Babay Blues comic strip in todays paper. The little girl is worrying and complaining about little things, although I like her idea of the retractable dome over the town.

    My favorite comic is Garfield. It is my favorite comic because it has a lot of action and a little bit of words. The actions tell so much more of the story and it is funny. That is why Garfield is my favorite comic.

    My favorite comic is Pearls Before Swine because the characters always say funny insalts and coments! I also like it because the crocodile always says words that are not pronounced write like wheez and theys.

    I think my favorite comic strip is Baby Blues because this week (Sunday) the Mom had an I.V. and the Baby made a HUGE mess on the floor and the Mom has the Baby's throwup all over her shirt and the dad says, I'm sure you had a bad day, but i don't think there is such thing as a chocolate I.V. Then the mom says, Well, there should be. I think You should read it. It's funny and I know you'll love it!

    I like the comic Diary of a Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules. I like this comic because Rodrick plays funny pranks on his brother Greg. I want to learn how to play funny pranks. That is why I like the comic Diary of a Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules.

    My favorite comic strip is Garfield. It was a comic strip long before it was a movie. I like it because it is funny and I like how Garfield is really sarcastic all the time. I also love lasagna - just like Garfield.

    I don't really read comics but I do like the
    Diary of a Wimpy Kid books because they are
    kind of like comics. They are usually funny and
    it helped me to enjoy the book.

    My favorte comic is Calvin and Hobbes.I like Calvin and Hobbes beacause he plays with his stuffed tiger and Calvin thankes it is real and they get in a lot of trouble.It makes me laugh.

    My favorite comic is the Garfield strips because he is so funny. I like the faces and motions he makes and he doesn't have to say a thing. He makes me laugh so hard. You should read it sometime.

    Oops I made a mistake. I read the blog assignment so fast that I though it said to write about my favorite part of Annie. I actually don't read comic strips, but I like Peanuts. I think it's funny when Lucy would always pull the football away before Charlie Brown would kick it. Then he ends up falling on his back.
